Have you been walking your property or mowing the lawn and noticed that one of your trees is not as lush as they should be? Maybe you notice yellowing leaves or other issues that are not normal for the season?
Everyone knows that people and animals get stressed out, but did you know that your trees can also suffer from stress? Well, they can. The quicker you inspect and treat a stressed tree, the better chance it has at making a full recovery. Here at Five Star Tree Services we have some tips to help you identify and treat stressed trees that are on your property.
Branches or Limbs Injured During a Storm
Storms can really do a number on your greenery. If your tree has an injured branch, the most effective remedy is to prune it. Smaller limbs or those lower to the ground can be pruned on your own. Larger limbs and those near the top of the tree should be handled by the professionals here at Five Star Tree Services. Not only is it safer for the tree, but also safer for you and your home.
Split & Cracked Trees
Large cracks and splits should always result in a call to an arborist. Smaller crack in a healthy tree will heal over time, but larger cracks often result in the need for a tree removal.
Leaning Tree
When trees start to lean it generally happens over a long period of time and is nothing to be overly concerned about. If you have a tree that was always straight that has started to lean after a storm or other natural event, it may be at risk. An experienced arborist can inspect the tree to identify the problem and suggest a solution.
Fungus on the Base
All fungus is not a bad fungus, but not all fungus is benign. If you have a tree that has weird fungal growths, give our arborist a call to come to check it out.
Lack of Leaves
If a tree loses its leaves out of season, that is a distinct sign that it is suffering from stress. Many reasons can be causing stress, and an inspection is the only way to discover the source. Pre-mature leaf drop can occur due to heat, water, pest or disease, identifying the problem is the only way to cure the tree
Off Season Color Changes
Trees are pretty sensitive to the seasons, so it is not often that the colors will change outside of the right climate. If you are in the middle of summer, but one tree appears as if it is in its full fall colors, it’s likely stressed. The same goes for a new tree that exhibits wilting, yellow or brown leaves. In most cases, it is due to the stress caused by being moved from one place to the other.
Browned & Spotted Leaves
The summer heat can cause the leaves on some trees to take on the look of being burnt. This is usually temporary and can be remedied with increased watering. Browning and spots in the rainy season, however, single a fungus. A few types of fungus can be rectified with treatment, but most result in tree removal.
